On the afternoon of February 12th, ZPEC Logging Team successfully completed the first spud for SALMAN-1 Well of Block 12 Project in Iraq.  Client’s supervisor was very pleased with ZPEC’s professional performance.

 

SALMAN-1 Well is a prospecting well, which spudded on February 9th.  After clearing through customs, ZPEC’s logging equipment was transported to the well site before the Chinese New Year's eve.  On the first day of New Year, the logging team, led by Captain Yu Qiang, started with equipment inventory, installation, and equipment debugging.  It took only 10 days to reach standby level, which ensured the subsequent logging operation.

 

The client has strict requirements on the logging data quality, so before construction, the client superviser went to the job site in person to check the readiness of the logging equipment and to review the operational procedures.  Since SALMAN-1 is a prospecting well, it lacks reference data and lost circulation appeared in the process of drilling.  In the subsequent process of open hole logging, well logging personnel recorded data many times, in order to help the drilling crew find the leakage point. Logging engineers used the logging instrument’s temperature change to help the rig team precisely locate the position of the leakage point.  Using acoustic and resistivity curve analysis to determine the liquid surface height change, provided guidance for the drilling crew’s subsequent casing and cementing operation.

 

The success of this first spud earned the full affirmation of the client’s  superviser, boosting the logging team’s confidence and laying a solid foundation for the construction of the logging operation. (Reported by Gao Dajun ,Li Hongwei)
